Poster contest, Presentations, Booth contest, photo contest, Rabbit ID, Dog Medalist test, Poultry testing, Rabbit medalist testing. Prizes supplied by individual groups entered donations. Snack bar run by Palomares 4-H for our club fundraiser.

You do not need to be in a Small Animal Project to enter and play the games.

Committee members are needed, please sign up to help with this fun event. The Committee sign-up is online.

Registration is required for Club/Project Booths
Pre-Registration for Youth Competitions extended to April 1, but registration at the door on day of event is accepted.

Each club/project is asked to donate 2 gifts for the SAFD Door Prizes.


SAFD 2017 will feature many competitive contests for 4-H Youth to participate.

Set up begins at 9:00, Start time is 10:00


Open to ALL 4-H Members (Do NOT need to be in a Small Animal Project to exhibit or attend)



This year the event will be outdoors. You are asked to bring a pop-up canopy. This will define your booth space.


Group Booth Contest
Booths will be judged from 10am-11am in two shifts. Please have your booth set up and 4-Hers ready to answer the judge's questions during your assigned time.

Be prepared to dazzle those in attendance with your knowledge of an outdoors/animal-related topic. This is your chance to get on your soapbox! Five bonus raffle tickets will be awarded for anyone who signs up and gives a presentation.

Showmanship Clinic (Poultry)
No Chickens required

Need knowledgeable youth or adult to judge
Showmanship Clinics (Cavy)
Youth should bring their cavy for showmanship.

Need knowledgeable youth or adult to judge
Mock Showmanship (Rabbit)
Youth should bring their rabbit for showmanship. Youth must wear long sleeves, pants and closed toed shoes. Whites are encouraged.

Photo Contest, Small Animal Theme
Submit your 8X10 matted photos (no hard frames). The photo MUST have been taken by the photographer entering. Name and club of contestant should be attached to BACK of item. Forms will be provided at check-in.

Poster Contest, Small Animal Theme
Name and club of contestant should be attached to BACK of item. Forms will be provided at check-in.

Small Animal Dress-Up Contest (Cavy, Poultry, Rabbit, Other)
Rabbits, cavies, chickens and other small animals are invited to dress up with their people and show their stuff. Awards will be determined by popular vote.
